Free! Free at last!

So I wrote my last exam this morning. I'm done for the summer, only two months overdue. It feels fabulous.

Of related fabulousness, I'll be buying my new digital camera tomorrow. I have been wanting to buy a digital camera for several months, and all of my research has led me to one conclusion: cuteness is important. [On a side note...yes, I'm aware that could be the girliest thing I've ever said.] I'm actually spending $100 more for a camera that has the same specifications, same picture quality, same manufacturer...but is smaller and cuter than the cheaper version. This one is so small that it's claim to fame is that it fits in an Altoids tin. Despite the fact that I've never had an Altoid, this excites me to no end. I can't wait to start photoblogging!

Tomorrow, July 1, is Canada Day...the best excuse of the summer to stumble down the street drunk before noon. I can't wait!

What a good citizen I am!

So I voted this morning. For this guy. My rationale was as follows:
(1) I dislike the Conservatives. Immensely.
(2) I distrust the Liberals.
(3) Jack Layton is getting on my nerves.
(4) The Greens need my money.

Although the question was posed to me: "would you feel bad if Malcolm [the NDP candidate] lost by one vote?" My answer: "yes...[insert pondering here]...no...[insert more pondering]...definitely no. Rahim's [the Conservative candidate] got it anyways."

The post of one thousand subjects...

Ok, maybe not a thousand...but below there seems to be a lot of bitty posts in a row...

First off...exam update...
I'm writing it, for those who have asked. But (hopefully) not on Monday. I'm gonna try to push it back to this Wednesday, which conveniently is the *deadline* to write deferred exams. Maybe that's what I need for a kick in the ass...no more delaying after Wednesday...

I have to write it because (assuming everything goes according the plan) this is technically a required course for my (future) major, and I'm sitting at a 46.8% on the course before the exam...which works out to about a 78% so far on the year. And in case anyone is wondering, that's pretty damn good considering I went to literally three classes. Ever.

When did I become a grown-up?
I've got two weddings to go to this summer. This scares me. Immensely.

When did I hit that magic age when it was time for my friends to get married? Did I miss something?!? Ahh! I'm sure I'll get married one day. But I don't think there'll be a "2" at the beginning of my age when it happens.

The Texas connection
I've made it into someone else's blog. I (sadly) am excited. Although still somewhat remarkable considering that I have told (literally) two people about this blog, and none of those people live in the same province as I do. Check out The Collegian In-Between here.

The ongoing Dracula saga
For anyone still following the Dracula saga (see my May 17th post for the details), we bought two new panda cories a couple of weeks ago and it looks like history is repeating itself...but the other way around. The two new cories have taken over the tanks and are butt-wiggling every which way, and Dracula has spent the past week huddled very unhappily in the plants. It doesn't look good for him, but we'll see what happens...

And in other fishie news..
My friend dropped her betta down the drain by accident today. I did that once (back in the "dark ages" of my fish-keeping life"), but luckily he was too fat to fit down the drain because I was over-feeding him... Poor fishie. At least Acey can keep him company...

The never-ending story

Yet again, it seems that I have an exam on Monday. And, yet again, I can't seem to make myself study.

The more I think about it, the last thing in the world I want is to keep on writing more tests, having the need to study loom over me, and continue 'learning' all of this totally useless bullshit. But on the other hand, I don't want to sit in an office everyday either. So I'm stuck. I don't really want to do...anything.

I'm not like a lot of people I know. I think I know where I want to end up...at least, I've got it whittled down to a couple of palatable options, and of which I'd be happy with. But I know I can't have any of those picks now, and I'm not sure what to do until they become more feasible. Of course, all of these things - these future lives - require either experience or money. Or both. But I just can't seem to find the path to those things.

At times, I'm tempted to sell everything I own, take the perhaps two grand that it would make me, and just hit the road. Just go. Anywhere. But that will gain me neither the experience or money that I will need later on...

So now what?

What does one do with 11 wives?

Buys them 14 palaces, apparently...

I'd have to think that one wife would be a good enough pain in the ass, without adding on another 10 for good measure...

To up your confidence in the justice system...

...check this out.

Must be a guy thing.

Obituary: Ace the Betta

On the morning of June 21, 2004, Ace the Betta passed away after a peaceful illness. He will be sadly missed by his parents, Chris and Sara, with whom he lived in a 5.5 gallon luxury condo. He will also be remembered by Peach, Wilbur, Sully and Rex the Black Phantoms; Chubb, Kitty and Dracula the Panda Cories; and the Neons. In his later days, Acey enjoyed relaxing in his balcony with his favorite red plant, fiercely guarding his betta condo, and studiously spying his next door neighbor, the sink.

R.I.P. Ace-a-fish...

Fine, You Win. Commence Commenting.

Alright, I finally cave. I've added Haloscan comments to ye ol' blog. Are you happy now? It really only took you 3 months and several emails, but you won. Now that they're installed however, you better damn well comment.

That is all.

EDIT: Well, now I look like a loser because it installed comments on all my posts, resulting in months and months of "Comment (0)". Shit.

I know, I know...

I haven't blogged in almost three weeks. Cut me some slack, hmmm? Besides, it wasn't my fault. The following made my head explode and I've been trying desperately to glue it back together...

From Anne Dawson's Blog on Canada.com

SUBJECT: Stephen Harper's wife and the public eye
Stephen Harper's wife, Laureen, was aghast yesterday to see herself on the front page of the Toronto Sun.

"Oh No! That's awful. Why am I in the paper?" she said when she saw the photograph.

"Now I'm going to be in trouble with Stephen. Don't show Stephen."

The photograph was taken Wednesday as Laureen, wearing a pretty pink suit, was chatting with guests before her husband addressed the Toronto Board of Trade.

The caption quoted her saying: "I don't do interviews. I don't want to do anything to screw up my husband."

She repeated her mantra when reporters again tried to squeeze a few words out of her yesterday.

Disappointed wags got little sympathy from campaign spokesman Jim Armour. He reminded them all of the success of Aline Chretien during her time at 24 Sussex.

Admired across the land for her poise, elegance and respectful manner, Mrs. Chretien rarely spoke with reporters and did but two or three full-fledged interviews during the entire decade her husband was in power.

"Aline Chretien did two interviews in 10 years time. We've got lots of time," said a confident Armour.
